Sanding & Finishing
We start the hardwood floor refinishing process by sanding your hardwood floor with a rough sand paper to eliminate any depressions, dings, or inconsistencies and to create a solid foundation to start from. Gradually, we move to finer sand paper to remove all scratches from initial sanding. Because we use different machines for the main floor and edges, during the third and final step in sanding, we buff the floor with a screen to bring the edges and main floor together before applying stain or waterborne urethane. After a thorough vacuuming process, we will apply multiple coats of either Oil-Modified, Water-borne, tung oil, wax or alcohol based finishes. Before applying the final coat, we will buff the hardwood floor to “knock down” any imperfections created by dust, or dirt. When the hardwood floor is prepped and clean, we apply the final coat to your hardwood floor. Wood refinishing not only improves the look of the wood flooring, but also increases its longevity. Regular maintenance is the key to protecting your investment, but refinishing can help bring life back into tired planks. |

Luxury Vinyl Flooring
Luxury vinyl flooring is a relatively new technology and is quite different from earlier vinyl flooring materials. The biggest improvement it provides over earlier vinyl floors is that these floors are completely waterproof, not just moisture-resistant. They will tolerate full being completely submersed in water without warping or becoming discolored. Hardwood
Hardwood is one of today’s most popular hard surfaced flooring materials because it offers nearly limitless new ‘looks’, exceptional durability and longevity. However, it is not the easiest flooring product to install unless you have extensive experience and is not recommended as a do-it-yourself project. Major manufacturers acknowledge this by refusing to honor their own product warranties unless their products have been professionally installed. Hardwood Flooring Solid wood floors are fabricated as one piece of solid wood. Solid wood floors are sensitive to the environment in they are installed. During the winter heating months, the wood’s moisture content drops, making the floor contract or develop gaps between some individual boards. During the summer months, the converse is true. Humidity entering the wood will make the wood expand, and if too much moisture is present, it can make the floor buckle upwards. The solution to this problem is to allow the hardwood to sit in the area where it will be installed for several days until it acclimates to the environment. Solid wood floors are usually installed by nailing them down on a wooden sub-floor. Engineered wood floors are fabricated with multiple layers of thin wood veneer glued down under pressure. Engineered wood floors also feature layers of wood veneer that have been cross-laminated for greater stability. These hardwood floors are, therefore, less affected from moisture than solid wood floors will be. Engineered wood floors can be put in place on below or above grade in most rooms in any home. They also offer several installation methods including nail down, staple down, or glue down.
