Learning the ropes: getting my first job at Barney's and Son was in a sense life changing, it's where I received my foundation. Barney taught me the basics and was a great boss (I still talk to him till this day). This is also where I met uncle Ken, he provided me with additional training and mentored me. He was always pushing me to get better, he help guided me towards this career. I recall while on a job, he pushed me to use this belt sander (big machine) which until then, I had never touched. I had no clue how to use it, he guided me thru the steps and watched as I sanded my first patch. Showing up 30 mins before work so I could be on time, this was all uncle Ken's handy work. It was while working on one of these jobs I decided that flooring and wood working would be my future career.

I was asked where I got my "eye, or my attention to detail" from? I don't mean to sound cliche, but I got it from my mom. Growing up, I got the chance to help my parents with their cleaning business, and aside from the time management I learned from my dad, my mom instilled in me quality workmanship, it didn't matter if I had to empty out 1 trash bin or 30 trash bins, I had to do the job right. As with most kids, I wanted to do the job as quickly as possible, she made sure that it was done to her standard, I quickly found out, if I paid attention to details, in the long run, I would be saving myself time. Because of these lessons, I work in earnest to instill those same qualities to my team of installers.
